Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum Jodhpur was built in between the year 1929-1942 during the reign of Maharaja Umaid Singh.The maharaja was a person of sophisticated and elegant taste and was very much attracted to the western lifestyle and modern architecture. So he hired Edwardian architect Henry Vaughan Lanchester.The main purpose behind the formation of the museum was to provide employment to the famine stricken farmers.This project employed 3,000 workers.The palace has 347 rooms which is very spacious and decorated elegantly to give a rich ambience look.The major attraction of Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum is the Grand Throne room, a private room and wooded panel library.The museum display different kind weapons used in royal era, stuffed leopards, clocks and banner which was presented by Queen Victoria.The maintenance of the museum is commendable.You can get to see the objects used by the Maharaja and his royal family. Some amazing collection of watches, rocks, crockery, cutlery, photographs etc can be seen.This museum is built high above the desert city of Jodhpur which has become a major attraction among the tourist from all over the country.
