Fateh Prakash Palace Museum, Chittorgarh

Located inside the Chittorgarh Fort, Fateh Prakash Palace Museum came into existence when a big segment of the famous Fateh Prakash Palace was transformed into a museum in 1968.The museum is divided into sections dedicated to different artifacts such as coins, art, weapons, tribal life and wood crafts of the Bassi village.A large collection of sculptures, majority of the deities is harboured within the museum. Belonging to the collection the statue of Lord Ganpati from Pangarh was built during the 8th - 9th century. There are several sculptures dating back to post medieval period such as the statues of Indra and Jain Ambica.They were excavated from the Rashi village.Apart from the beautiful figures the museum also has a section dedicated to weapons and armory such as axes, helmets, shields, farsa and knives. It also has preserved uniforms of the mighty soldiers of Chittorgarh. Do plan a visit to this splendid museum within the week except on holidays such as Friday and gazette holidays.It remains open from 10:00 am till 4:30 pm. On Mondays a charge free entry can be availed by visitors.
